Brazilian
Jiu Jitsu
Jiu-Jitsu
or "the gentle art"
originated in Japan and was brought to Brazil in the early
part of the century by the great champion Mitsuyo Maeda. One
of his students, a renowned boxer named Carlos Gracie, quickly
modified the classical Jiu-Jitsu techniques to meet the needs
of real , "no rules" street fighting, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
was born. Carlos taught his style to his four younger brothers
( Oswaldo, Gastao, Jorge, and Helio) and to his older sons
(including Carlson and Carley) who in turn taught their brothers,
sons, grandsons, nephews, and students. Propelled by the Gracie
lineage, the superiority of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has been represented
throughout the world both in the ring and on the street.
The Yamasakiname
is well known in the fighting world of Brazil. Many of the
family members have represented Brazil in numerous international
competitions. Mario and Fernando were introduced to the mats
before they were able to walk, and Neto has been training
with the Yamasaki family since he was 3 years old. Now, they
are a part of the Kim's Karate family. Together, Kim's Karate
and the Yamasaki family will be a significant force in the
Martial Arts industry.
