About:
Instructors: Master Kevin McMahon

Master McMahon
started studying martial arts at age 7, and has continued along
this path for the past 36 years. He began studies with Karate under
Sensei Lee. He achieved his first belt at 11 years of age and just
recently earned his 7th degree Black Belt in Ishinryu Karate.
At 19 years of age while
holding a 4th degree in Ishinryu Karate, Master Kevin decided to
take on the challenging art of Taekwondo. He quickly became both
a master of the art and a renowned and publicly recognized PKA and
AKA fighter.
Master Kevin has been studying TKD for well over 20 years and currently holds a 6th degree black belt in the art. During his years of competing, training, and teaching he has graduated over 450 Black Belts and thousands of students at various other belt levels.
From 1989 to 1991 Master Kevin served as the Vice President for Kim's Karate, reporting directly to Master Kim. During this time he managed over 40 schools with over 10 thousand students.
In 1991 Master Kevin left Kim's Karate and formed Kim's Karate Inc. He opened his first school in Alexandria, Va. and subsequently began to open other locations in the Northern Virginia area. His philosophy is to provide a customer-friendly environment for both the parents and their children. His focus on customer service and family values are truly evident once you meet him and it clearly plays a vital role in making "Kim's Karate Inc." the fastest growing Martial Arts institute in the nation.
Although the school is rapidly growing, Master Kevin believes that with growth comes the need for more discipline and order without losing sight of the enjoyment of the Art. He said, "that our school promotes the development of people, not just the training of the arts. We do this through programs such as: Kim's Karate Starts, our goal setting program and our motivational worksheets and discussions." "Our instructors teach and instill in our students the belief that a well-balanced family, work, and healthy training regime will result in positive changes in all aspects of your life." This was made evident when just recently, while being interviewed by a local news reporter, he was asked about being a father and a Martial Artist, he responded, "I believe being good at one makes me better at the other."
Master Kevin holds a 6th degree Black Belt in Taekwondo, a 7th Degree in Ishinryu Karate, a 2nd Degree in Judo, and a 1st degree in Kendo.
Master Kevin has been ranked #3 in the world in PKA and #1 in AKA for 3 consecutive years. He and his schools have been featured in numerous magazines and news articles to include: People Magazine, Sports Illustrated, The Washington Post, USA Today, CNN, Fox News, Discovery Channel, and Late night with Tom Brokaw.
